Bianchi Industry selects sustainable E-LOOP ABS material from ELIX Polymers for vending machine components

06 Apr 2026

Bianchi Industry, a leading manufacturer of professional coffee machines and vending systems, has selected a sustainable, mechanically recycled ABS resin from ELIX Polymers for various components of their vending machines.

The selection is the result of close technical collaboration between ELIX Polymers, their distribution partner in Italy Mito Polimeri and Bianchi Industry focusing on achieving the optimal balance between mechanical performance, surface quality and processing characteristics, as well as achieving a reduction of the carbon footprint.

ELIX ABS E-LOOP P2H-AT MR is a product with excellent processability thanks to its high fluidity and superior surface finish. Its formulation with recycled materials and anti-static properties makes it perfect for visible as well as mechanical components in consumer goods industry. The carbon footprint can be reduced by 36% compared to the traditional fossil-based ELIX ABS P2H-AT. ELIX Polymers has developed several more sustainable products under its E-LOOP brand. Mechanically recycled ABS and ABS/PC blends and products with certified raw materials under ISCC+ certification that incorporate circular and bio-based raw materials.

For Bianchi Industry, circularity and energy efficiency are central to product innovation. Using certified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools, the company evaluates environmental impact across the entire lifecycle of each machine. The analysis highlights raw materials and energy consumption as the main contributors, guiding Bianchi Industry to explore materials with lower environmental impact—without compromising performance or process stability. “Our ambition is to integrate environmental sustainability into a long-term, economically viable strategy,” explains Francesco Trapletti, Sustainability Manager, Purchasing Director and Technical Director at Bianchi Industry. “With ELIX Polymers and Mito Polimeri, we identified a circular ABS solution capable of reducing our carbon footprint while maintaining full compatibility with our existing tools and production processes.”

Bianchi Industry conducted an extensive validation program using E‑LOOP MR in one of the heaviest structural components of its machines: the 3‑kg snack and food drawer, which must withstand repetitive mechanical stress. Key results include:

-1:1 compatibility with existing molds and processing parameters
-Stable molding performance and excellent dimensional consistency
-Successful endurance testing with more than 50,000 insertion–extraction cycles
-Six‑month field validation in real operating environments
