European Polypropylene (PP) homopolymer grade spot prices rise on firmer feedstock costs and reduced import flows

21 Aug 2026 14:30 IST
This week, PP prices in Europe were largely stable across contract assessments, while spot assessments in the homopolymer segment and UK contract references registered modest gains. The overall market tone reflected limited volatility, with most grades holding previous levels and only isolated pockets recording upward adjustments during the assessment period.

An industry source in Europe, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "The European polypropylene market showed a mixed trend, with some spot grades moving higher while others remained stable. The higher monthly propylene contract settlement price increased production costs, while reduced availability of competitively priced imports eased pressure on local offers. Demand remained slow during the holiday period, keeping the overall price increase limited. Buyers are expected to review their inventories as they return to the market, which could lead to some restocking ahead of September. For now, firmer feedstock costs and reduced import pressure are lending support to prices, although demand has yet to show a clear recovery."
