Asian Styrene monomer (SM) prices leap higher on firm energy and feedstock costs
On Monday, SM prices rose steeply in Asia, in line with stronger upstream energy rates.
A sharp rise in benzene feedstock values and improved buying conditions further contributed to the upward price movement.
FOB Korea SM prices were assessed at USD 1160-1170/mt levels, surging by USD (+60/mt) from last Friday’s assessed levels.
CFR China SM prices were assessed at USD 1170-1180/mt levels, a spike of USD (+60/mt) from previously assessed levels.
Meanwhile, FOB Korea benzene feedstock prices were assessed at USD 1000-1010/mt levels, a sharp rise of USD (+50/mt) from last Friday.
