Propylene prices plunge in Asia amid muted procurement activity
Last week, propylene prices slumped in the Asian region.
An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Propylene prices tumbled due to weak demand and subdued buying from downstream users. Market sentiment remained under pressure amid an uncertain economic outlook, volatile production costs, and imbalanced supply-demand conditions. Lower operating rates and temporary shutdowns at some plants further reduced output, while downstream consumption stayed weak, keeping procurement activity muted and weighing on prices."
FOB Korea propylene prices were assessed at USD 1090–1100/mt levels, a plunge of USD (-105/mt) from the previous week.
CFR South East Asia propylene prices were assessed at USD 1165–1175/mt levels, a week-on-week slide of USD (-80/mt).
CFR China propylene prices were assessed at USD 1115–1125/mt levels, a steep week-on-week drop of USD (-90/mt).
CFR Taiwan propylene prices were assessed at USD 1115–1125/mt levels, a tumble of USD (-120/mt) from the previous week.
