Asian ethylene prices extend month-long rally amid West Asia geopolitical tensions

Last week, ethylene prices marched higher in the Asian region.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Ethylene prices rose, primarily due to limited supply. Several naphtha cracking units across Asia reduced operating rates or shut down for maintenance, lowering production and availability. At the same time, ongoing geopolitical tensions caused supply disruptions and affected trade flows, creating market uncertainty. With fewer cargoes available and steady demand, sellers maintained firm pricing, contributing to the increase in ethylene prices.”

CFR South East Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1495-1505/mt levels, a week-on-week rise of USD (+60/mt).

CFR North East Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1445–1455/mt levels, a rise of USD (+10/mt) from the previous week.

FOB Korea ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1435–1445/mt levels, a week-on-week increase of USD (+10/mt).

FOB Japan prices were assessed at USD 1430-1440/mt, higher by USD (+10/mt) from the previous week.
