Styrene monomer (SM) prices edge higher in Asia

Despite a drop in crude values, SM prices witnessed a rise in Asia on Monday.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Prices rose on the back of higher upstream benzene values coupled with improved buying sentiments in the Asian market."

On Monday, FOB Korea SM prices were assessed at the USD 1020-1030/mt levels, up USD (+5/mt) from Friday's assessed levels.

CFR China SM prices on Monday were assessed at the USD 1045-1055/mt levels, a gain of USD (+5/mt) from Friday.

Meanwhile, upstream benzene prices on Monday were assessed at the USD 905-915/mt FOB Korea levels, a rise of USD (+5/mt) from Friday.
