This week, PP prices climbed in the European region.
An industry source in Europe informed a Polymerupdate team member, "The European polypropylene market witnessed tight supply conditions exacerbated by continuing outages and short supplies of import cargoes. Though general demand sentiments have been weak across key sectors like automotive and construction, prices have maintained a consistent uptrend till date owing to a paucity of material. Furthermore, regional market participants opined that recent German rail strikes would not have an immediate debilitating impact on the PP market."
In the spot markets, PP injection moulding grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1310-1320/mt FD North West Europe mark, a week on week increase of Euro (+25/mt). PP block copolymer grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1375-1385/mt FD Northwest Europe levels, a gain of Euro (+20/mt) from last week.
In the contract markets, PP injection moulding grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1505-1510/mt FD NWE Germany and FD NWE France levels, both marginally higher by Euro (+5/mt) week on week. PP injection moulding grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1495-1500/mt FD NWE Italy levels, a marginal rise of Euro (+5/mt) from the previous week. Meanwhile, PP injection moulding grade prices were assessed at the GBP 1285-1290/mt FD NWE UK levels, up GBP (+5/mt) from week to week.
In the contract markets, PP block copolymer grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1580-1585/mt FD NWE Germany and FD NWE France levels, both rising by Euro (+30/mt) from the previous week. PP block copolymer grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1570-1575/mt FD NWE Italy levels, an increase of Euro (+30/mt) from last week. Meanwhile, PP block copolymer grade prices were assessed at the GBP 1350-1355/mt FD NWE UK levels, higher by GBP (+25/mt) from the previous week.
FCA Antwerp PP homopolymer prices were assessed at the Euro 1290-1320/mt level, a week on week gain of Euro (+20/mt). FCA Antwerp PP copolymer prices were assessed at the Euro 1360-1390/mt levels, a rise of Euro (+20/mt).
Upstream propylene spot prices on Thursday were assessed at the Euro 1050-1060/mt FD Northwest Europe levels, a week on week fall of Euro (-15/mt).
European propylene feedstock contract price for March 2024 settled at the Euro 1100/MT FD North West Europe levels. This price represents an increase of Euro 35/mt from its February 2024 settlement levels.
