This week, HDPE export prices witnessed a sharp rise in the United States.
An industry source in the US informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Reports of persistently tight product availability for prompt export cargoes supported the price rise.”
HDPE injection moulding prices were assessed at the USD 860-880/mt FAS Houston levels, a steep week on week rise of USD (+65/mt). HDPE BM export prices were assessed at the USD 915-935/mt FAS Houston levels, a surge of USD (+85/mt) from last week. Meanwhile, HD film export prices were assessed at the USD 950-970/mt FAS Houston levels, a spike of USD (+75/+80/mt) from the previous week.
In the domestic markets, railcar delivered HM film prices were assessed at the 55.00-55.50 cents/lb mark while HDPE blow moulding prices were assessed at the 53.50-54.00 cents/lb mark. HDPE injection prices were assessed at the 52.50-53.00 cents/lb mark.
Spot ethylene prices were assessed at the 19.00-19.50 cents/lb FOB US Gulf mark, a week on week increase of (+0.50 cents/lb).
The US ethylene contract price for the month of December 2023 settled at the 28.50 cents/lb mark. This price represents a drop of 1 cent/lb from its November 2023 settlement levels.
