This week, LLDPE prices journeyed southward in the European region.
An industry source in Europe informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Spot trade was depressed in the European LLDPE market amid persistently weak demand sentiments. A bearish pressure was exerted on prices owing to an influx of import cargoes from overseas destinations in the region.”
The source added, ”Meanwhile, regional producers have maintained output levels at bare minimum levels with converters also reportedly curtailing operations in the face of weakened demand from key derivative sectors.”
In the spot markets, LLDPE prices were assessed at the Euro 1085-1095/mt FD Northwest Europe levels, a tumble of Euro (-50/mt) week on week.
In the contract markets, LLDPE grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1550-1555/mt FD NWE Germany and FD NWE France levels, both lower by Euro (-25/mt) from last week. LLDPE grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1500-1555/mt FD NWE Italy levels, a drop of Euro (-25/mt) from the previous week. Meanwhile, LLDPE grade prices were assessed at the GBP 1350-1355/mt FD NWE UK levels, down GBP (-20/mt) week on week.
FCA Antwerp LLDPE film prices were assessed at the Euro 1070-1100/mt levels, a sharp fall of Euro (-50/mt) from the previous week.
Ethylene spot prices on Thursday were assessed at the Euro 825-835/mt FD North West Europe levels, a week on week drop of Euro (-10/mt).
Feedstock ethylene contract price for November 2023 settled at the Euro 1215/MT FD North West Europe levels. This price represents a sharp fall of Euro 45/MT from its October 2023 settlement levels.
