Polypropylene (PP) export prices rise in the United States
This week, PP export prices gained in the US.
An industry source in the US informed a Polymerupdate team member, “The price rise is a result of an improved global trading outlook. Domestic demand meanwhile is seen tepid.”
FAS Houston PP Copolymer prices were assessed at the USD 1035-1055/mt levels while PP Homopolymer prices were assessed at the USD 990-1010/mt FAS Houston levels, both higher by USD (+20/mt) from last week.
In the domestic markets, railcar delivered PP Homopolymer injection grade prices were assessed at the 55.50-56.00 cents/lb mark.
Upstream polymer grade propylene spot prices on Thursday were assessed at the 31.50-32.00 cents/lb FOB US Gulf mark, up (+0.50 cents/lb) from last week.
In the contract markets, propylene contract prices settled at the 35.00 cents/lb mark for polymer grade propylene and 33.50 cents/lb mark for chemical grade propylene in July 2023. These prices represent a rollover from their June 2023 levels.
