Polypropylene (PP) export prices gain sharply in the United States
This week, PP export prices were assessed sharply higher in the US.
An industry source in the US informed a Polymerupdate team member, “There was an uptick in trading activity as demand sentiments witnessed an upswing in some sectors. Furthermore, tight product avails also contributed to the rise in prices.”
FAS Houston PP Copolymer prices were assessed at the USD 995-1015/mt FAS Houston levels while PP Homopolymer prices were assessed at the USD 950-970/mt levels, both surged by USD (+65/mt) from last week.
In the domestic markets, railcar delivered PP Homopolymer injection grade prices were assessed at the 55.00-55.50 cents/lb mark, a rise of (+2 cents/lb).
Upstream polymer grade propylene spot prices on Thursday were assessed at the 31.00-31.50 cents/lb FOB US Gulf mark, constant from last week.
The US propylene contract prices for June settled at the 35.00 cents/lb mark for polymer grade propylene and 33.50 cents/lb mark for chemical grade propylene. These prices represent a sharp drop of 4.00 cents/lb from their May levels.
