Polystyrene (PS) domestic prices drift lower in the USA
This week, PS domestic prices were assessed sharply lower in the United States.
An industry source in the US on condition of anonymity informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Reports of ample product availability in the local markets and bearish cues from the Asian region weighed negatively on prices.”
Domestic railcar delivered GPPS prices were assessed at the 116-117 cents/lb levels, a steep fall by (-7 cents/lb). HIPS prices were assessed at the 123.50-124.00 cents/lb levels, a sharp drop by (-9 cents/lb).
GPPS export prices were assessed at the USD 2240-2260/mt FAS Houston while HIPS prices were assessed at the USD 2500-2530/mt FAS Houston mark, both unchanged from the previous week.
Feedstock SM spot prices were assessed at the 45.30-45.40 cents/lb FOB US Gulf levels, unchanged from last week.
Meanwhile in Asia, GPPS prices were assessed at the USD 1160-1230/mt CFR Far East Asia levels, a week on week decrease of USD (-30/mt). HIPS prices were assessed at the USD 1210-1300/mt CFR Far East Asia levels, a slide of USD (-40/mt) from the previous week.
