Ethylene prices surge across Asia on tight supply and stronger upstream costs
Last week, ethylene prices rallied across the Asian region, supported by constrained spot availability and firm upstream energy markets.
An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Regional ethylene markets strengthened during the week as limited spot cargo availability and reduced production tightened supply conditions. Firmer upstream energy values encouraged sellers to lift offers, while improved buying interest from downstream derivative producers helped sustain trading activity. Although purchasing remained largely requirement-based, the tighter supply environment continued to provide strong support to prices."
CFR Southeast Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 885-895/mt levels, registering a week-on-week increase of USD (+80/mt).
CFR Northeast Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 935-945/mt levels, rising sharply by USD (+105/mt) from the previous week.
FOB Korea ethylene prices were assessed at USD 895-905/mt levels, while FOB Japan prices were assessed at USD 890-900/mt levels, with both benchmarks climbing by USD (+100/mt) week on week.
