This week, PP prices displayed a mixed undertone in Europe.
An industry source in Europe told a Polymerupdate team member, “PP prices in Europe followed a divergent trend, as spot prices declined sharply while contract prices registered a steep rise. In the spot market, lower propylene feedstock prices and ongoing fluctuations in the energy market reduced cost support, while buyers resisted high prompt offers and limited purchases to immediate needs. Improved availability and slower trading activity further pressured prices. In contrast, contract prices rose as earlier feedstock cost increases and monthly settlement formulas continued to filter through the market. The widening gap between firm contract levels and weaker spot demand reflects increasing margin pressure on downstream processors and cautious near-term sentiment.”
