Polypropylene (PP) prices climb 10-25$ in FEA and SEA

This week, polypropylene prices gained in the Far East and South East Asian region. The price rise was in line with a lift in buying sentiments coupled with higher PP futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange in China.

CFR Far East Asia, PP raffia and PP injection grade prices were assessed higher at the USD 1220/mt levels, a week on week rise of USD 10/mt. PP film prices were at the USD 1245/mt levels, a gain of USD 20/mt on the week. BOPP prices were at the USD 1235/mt levels, a week on week rise of USD 10/mt. PP block copolymer prices were assessed up at the USD 1280/mt levels, a gain of USD 25/mt from the previous week.

In South East Asia (SEA), PP raffia and PP injection grade prices were assessed higher at the USD 1250/mt levels, a rise of USD 10/mt on the week. PP film prices were at the USD 1275/mt levels, while BOPP prices were at the USD 1275/mt, both up USD 15/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed higher at the USD 1300/mt CFR levels, a week on week increase of USD 15/mt.

In Vietnam, a Middle Eastern producer has sealed deals for PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1250/mt CFR levels, for September 2018 shipment.

In Bangladesh, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1270/mt CFR levels, both week on week up USD 10/mt. PP film prices were assessed up at the USD 1295/mt CFR levels, a rise of USD 15/mt from the previous week. BOPP prices were at the USD 1290/mt CFR levels, week on week increase of USD 10/mt. PP block copolymer prices were assessed steady at the USD 1340/mt CFR levels on the week.

In Sri Lanka, PP raffia and PP injection prices were higher at the USD 1265/mt CFR levels, a gain of USD 5/mt on the week. PP film prices were at the USD 1290/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1290/mt CFR levels, both up USD 5/mt from the previous week. The price fall was on the back of lower import offers from the overseas suppliers. PP block copolymer prices were assessed higher at the USD 1340/mt CFR levels, a week on week rise of USD 5/mt. Prices climbed as product availability remains tight in the region.

In India, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed at the USD 1250/mt, both unchanged from the previous week. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1260/mt while BOPP prices were assessed at the USD 1265/mt CFR levels, both stable from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed steady at the USD 1300/mt CFR levels on the week. The price rise was a result of higher offers from Middle Eastern producers and reports of a lesser availability of import offers for the month of September .

In Pakistan, PP raffia and PP injection prices were steady at the USD 1270/mt CFR levels. PP film prices were at the USD 1290/mt CFR levels, while in BOPP prices were also at the USD 1290/mt CFR levels, both stable from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed stable at the USD 1340/mt CFR levels on the week.

Feedstock propylene prices on Tuesday were assessed steady at the USD 1080/mt FOB Korea levels. CFR China prices of propylene were at the USD 1125/mt CFR China levels, a week on week drop of USD 10/mt.
